Speech:
Queen Nefertiti
Greetings fellow subjects, you may call me master if you wish or call me Queen Nefertiti of Egypt. I am very well known for my beauty, feel free to stare. My husband is Pharaoh Akhenaten. We ruled during the Amarna Revolution from 1367-1350
I’m a famous queen of Egypt whose name mysteriously disappeared from Ancient Egyptian records. I lived in a time of religious debate and ruled during the Amarna revolution. You should be able to sense what kind of person I am.
I guess I am a very influential person for people have chosen me as the subject of their artwork. There is a famous statue of me; it is one of the most recognizable icons in Egypt. There is also a limestone figure of me in the Berlin museum. Now I am the subject of modern debate. I’m different from the other chief queens because I am shown taking part of daily worship. Also I had position as a priest. I am depicted in almost twice as many reliefs as her husband during his first 5 years of his reign. I participated in the same way God’s wife would and I also wear the same fashion as her. Unlike other queens I wasn’t born with royal blood, I was daughter of an army official who became pharaoh. My husband and I were very close so they showed us as inseparable in early reliefs. For this reason a figure of me was shown on his sarcophagus instead of a god’s.
My husband and I have impacted the people greatly because we are the ones who started monotheism. Monotheism means believing in one god, in our case, Aten the sun disk. I was very active in religious and cultural changes made by the pharaoh and I was a devoted worshipper to Aten.
As you can see I am a very important person in Egypt’s history.
